BPA Free Food Storage

More and more people are vigilant about choosing and preparing healthy food for their families. In many supermarkets, there are even labels alerting shoppers to the health advantages of specific nutritional benefits. As food shoppers, many of us are increasingly mindful to pay attention to these facts, doing our best to keep our families healthy and safe.

But when it comes to storing your healthy food, we're not accustomed to seeing clearly marked labels attached to containers. Occasionally, a BPA-free sticker has made its way on top of the lid, but other than that who knows if the container materials are safe and NOT leaching toxins right into that wonderfully prepared dish. MightyNest's food storage section was created to solve that problem.  To start, glass is an excellent material of choice when storing food.

At MightyNest, we have a selection of glass containers with glass lids, most commonly referred to as refrigerator storage. Also available are glass storage containers with leak-preventing BPA-free lids which are enormously helpful when transporting food. Because they are both heat and cold resistant, these glass containers can go from the refrigerator to the microwave and in most cases to the oven. Made from extremely durable tempered glass, these storage containers are also impact and chip resistant.

Unlike many food storage jars with metal lids (which often contain BPA), glass lidded jars and jars with BPA free lids are immune to rusting and a safer material for food storage. The glass storage containers below are airtight, allowing you to keep dried pasta, cereal, coffee, nuts, grains, oatmeal and other foods fresh.

When it comes to storing baby food, it's often more convenient to use smaller sized containers. Again, these also have the capacity to move freely from freezer to fridge to highchair, stopping for a quick warm-up along the way. The good thing is, your prepared baby food can stay in the same container throughout. The following are our favorite BPA-free baby food storage containers which can also double as condiment storage containers:

A few more tips to keep in mind while storing food safely:

  • Make sure leftovers are properly stored in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking.
  • If you have a lot of leftover food, separate the into several small shallow containers. This will help to cool foods faster and reduce the risk of contamination.
  • In most cases, it's better to wash produce just before eating. If washed prior to storing in the refrigerator, the moisture can accelerate spoilage.
