Since 1900, Weck has been providing home-canning equipment in Europe with their beloved glass jars. Today, they are still at the head of the curve when it comes to glass canning. Weck is well known for their trademark simple style-meets-utilitarian design.

At MightyNest, we use Weck jars for multiple purposes. In addition to canning, we also use these for food storage. The 1 liter cylindrical canning jar is perfect for storing quinoa, millet, rice and specialty flours. And we've recently added the 79 ml size (as a even smaller substitute for the 160 ml size) which is perfect for storing bulk spices, batches of pesto or homemade balms. For a couple of years now I've really wanted to try canning. For many reasons including: seeing blogger's (like Soule Mama) beautiful photos of rows upon rows of canned goods lining their pantries and learning that the grocery store canned tomatoes I use for winter soups and stews have BPA lining their cans. Plus, we started a small garden a few years ago and I thought I wouldn't want all those fabulous tomatoes go to waste. So although our garden has not exactly produced enough bounty to warrant putting up for winter, I decided to take the plunge anyway.  Read more...
