Ok, I'm learning a whole bunch of stuff lately. First, I learn that vinegar can clean just about anything. THEN, tonight while trying out a tip I read the other night on WholeLiving that said vinegar, baking soda and boiling water can clean out drains, I learned that the two of them together pack quite a punch. We're talking science experiment worthy fizziness!

I will say it again - who knew?

Here's the recipe I found on a site called doityourself.com, which explains  the "combination of baking soda and vinegar can break down fatty acids into soap and glycerin, allowing the clog to wash down the drain." Read more...

Have I been living under a rock??? How on earth did I get to be thirty-something without knowing that you can use vinegar for just about anything? So ashamed.

I thought vinegar was for one thing - dying Easter eggs. I had NO CLUE you can use it to unclog drains, clean chrome, absorb odors like smoke and onion, clean the dreaded toilet bowl, clear corrosion from a shower head, act as a fabric softener, clean up pet stains (hallelujah) and even fix those annoying yellow anti-perspirant stains! But wait…there’s more. Apparently, vinegar can also extend the life of flowers, take the sting out of sunburn (really?), kill weeds and dandelions, take salt stains off of shoes, loosen rusty bolts and keep your windshield frost-free in the winter. And that's only a few of the tips I found on the Heinz Web site. Who knew? (besides everyone reading this blog!)  Read more...
