Parents know that reading aloud and teaching the alphabet to children is vital to their language development. Also, we know sharing interesting and different vocabulary on a regular basis with children promotes their acquisition of new words. 

New research tells us that numeracy skills develop in the same way.  With repeated exposure to numbers and their relationships—verbally, in games, in books and on paper, children develop an important foundation of numeracy understanding.

Kids love stacking toys!  Especially curious toddlers.  I was so happy to get my Melissa and Doug stacker, a few years back, when my oldest was a toddler.  

Then I noticed it chipping.  My daughter mouthed everything.  

Then I heard that Melissa and Doug toys are made in China, and I thought of all that red paint.  Ugh!

You'll hear your toddler pulling this cute little toy long before you see it.  The Dancing Alligator's body moves, and it's wooden clacking sounds delight little people and are not offensive to us sensitive older folk.  It's a simple and lovely toy that any toddler would enjoy playing with. 

My 2 year old loves to pull this toy around, so it really promotes movement with the tempting string to pull and wooden clacking sounds.  This is very helpful to us through our long, cold and dark winter.  You know how your toddler wants to be heard?  To make noise, and notice how things work? This little toy gives them all of those concepts, while not being maddening to the tired, overworked parent.
