A User's Guide: Reusable Sandwich Bags for a Safe, Waste-Free Lunch!
Post by Kristen in MightyNest Blog
Looking to pack a waste-free lunch using safe, non-toxic food containers? Reusable sandwich and snack bags are a great place to start!
We have 3 options for you:
Snack Taxi Sandwich Sacks and Snack Sacks: Made from 100% cotton and lined with nylon, these sacks have a velcro closure and can be machine washed and dried, or simply wiped clean with a damp sponge. They come in 2 sizes, 1 for sandwiches and 1 for snacks. These are very easy to clean, dry quickly and come in lots of cute patterns. BPA, Phthalate, PVC, Lead Free.
Wich Ditty and Snack Ditty: 100% Organic cotton reusable snack and sandwich bags with velcro closure. Colorful fabric outside printed with low-impact inks and un-dyed organic cotton liners. Available in 6 patterns, and 2 sizes. I often use these for my less messy sandwiches and snacks, as they aren't able to be wiped out as easily since they do not have a liner, and are best cleaned by throwing them in the washer and dryer. The plus here though, is that they are made from 100% organic cotton inside and out. BPA, Phthalate, PVC, Lead Free.
Kids Konserve Reusable Plastic Sandwich Wraps: These wraps are made from recycled, FDA approved, non-toxic, non-leaching, recyclable PE plastic. This product does not contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) and is PVC, Lead and Phthalate free. Easy to wash, just rinse/wash in the sink and air dry in minutes. Also the wrap opens flat and can be used as a placemat. You may recycle these food wraps! Simply cut off the velcro closure and toss them in the recycle bin! They are plastic #4.
So which ones do we use for our lunches, picnics and road trips? All of them! I use the Snack Taxi's for messier sandwiches like PBJ's and wet snacks like apple slices. I use the Eco Ditty's for drier sandwiches and dry snacks and I use the food wraps for messier sandwiches and storing unfinished sandwiches and snacks in the fridge.
