Safe BPA-Free Divided Plates
10.05.10 Safe BPA-Free Divided Plates
Look no further... One of our favorite companies, Kinderville, has come out with another great product: Silicone divided plates.
We're really excited about these plates, because they provide a safe alternative to melamine divided plates. Those cute hard plastic divided plates your kids love with their favorite characters on them are usually made from melamine. Melamine resin is manufactured by mixing urea with formaldehyde under heat and pressure. Studies show that melamine can leach its constituents (formaldehyde) into food and beverages, especially when used with acidic or warm foods.
Silicone, on the other hand is an inert material, meaning its components do not leach out or react with food in any way. Silicone is made up of silicon, which is a natural element present in organic materials like rock, sand and quartz. Silicon is transformed into silicone when combined with oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. Since it is made from natural materials, silicone does not contain chemicals that can be found in plastic.
These silicone divided plates have 3 individual sections, a wide base (no tipping!) low profile and nifty sidewalls to help your little one scoop up their food. They are also designed with 2 handles for easier carrying. They are sold in a sets of 2 - pink & purple or blue and green. Freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. Like all products sold on MightyNest they are BPA, PVC, Phthalate and Lead free. Dimensions are 9.25" wide x 1.5" deep.
