I purchased this sippy even though I I knew better. I used the Safe Starter bottles when my son was younger until I realized how poorly designed they were. When bottle-feeding my baby breastmilk in the Safe Starter bottles, the nipple would often pull through the plastic cap causing the liquid gold to spill everywhere. This is annoying when feeding anything, but when large quantities of breastmilk are wasted... tears should be shed. I tried to tell myself that this sippy would be better, and against my better judgement ended up buying it. HUGE MISTAKE! It's no better than the bottles. This company really needs to "get with it."

1. The hugest disappointment with this Safe Starter sippy is that it's not valved, but it might as well be. I don't understand the mechanics of sippy cups but I do know that there needs to be some kind of "air hole" to let air in as the straw is used. But... nope! Safe Starter decided to disregard that fact. With this cup you can take one sip but then have to let your mouth off the straw so air LOUDLY rushes in before you can take another sip. If you don't pause to let air in, it's impossible to get any liquid out, so this ends up being MORE damaging to oral and speech development than a valved sippy because a child too young to understand just ends up straining and straining to get anything out while an older child would just get frustrated.

2. This sippy leaks. I seriously can leave it on a flat surface, barely filled with liquid, and when I go to give it to my son, it will leak. I think it leaks around the cap area.

3. Don't buy this. Just don't.

I LOVE this sippy cup because of the versatile stages. From sippy valve to straw plus a lid to cover the entire thing. I do wish it was insulated. All in all, it's a favorite & I will only buy these sippys from now on.

This is a great sippy cup. I love that it can be a sippy or a straw cup! I bought it for my 8 month old and he tips it upside down and it doesn't leak. My 3 year old loves it too(he uses it with the straw). It's easy to put together and easy to clean, too. I will definitely be buying more.

After trying to get this sippy to not leak just standing up, I ended up having to shave an 1/8 inch of plastic off it do it wouldn't leak through the seal. I do not recommend this sippy at all. Nothing but problems.

We have used a myriad of sippy cups and have found this to be one of the better ones out there. We have a cabinet filled with different brands of sippys (foogo, eco, kanteen klean, thinkbaby, nuk, etc.). We now have four of these since its pretty much all we use. It has a number of nice features: removable insulator sleeve, protective cap, straw, travel plug, removable handles. If you are looking for a versatile sippy this is it. It may be used with the valve for water, milk, or juice or with the straw for thicker beverages such as smoothies. We haven't really used the travel plug, but do like the concept of having it should we go on a long journey. We do use the cap whenever we leave the house with it. We have found it reasonably easy to clean, as all of the components separate easily. We use a nipple brush or child's toothbrush to clean the spout. It's mostly leak proof, but not 100% of the time. For example, when our toddler bangs it around some liquid does come out. This is why I didn't give it 5 stars. The only completely leak proof sippy we have found is by NUK, but it's made of plastic, BPA free, but still plastic. Bottom line - this is the best non-plastic sippy out there and it's definitely the most versatile. Independent review, non-compensated in any way.

Got this for my almost 1 year-old. He has a better grasp of drinking from a straw than a regular sippy. This is easy for him to hold. I like the design. He is doing well drinking from this, but does chew on the straw part, which is hard, not squishy. I totally don't understand the travel plug though - you have to take out the straw plug and put in the travel plug for the cup to not leak. But, then you have to carry the other plug in your bag, so you can unscrew the top, swap them out, etc. What a pain. So, I will not be using this as a travel cup, but will get one with an integrated cap, like the Foogo one, for him eventually.
