Eucalyptus Essential Oil Benefits

Chances are you’re familiar with the refreshing scent of eucalyptus essential oil. For those of you who are new to this oil, the prime source is Australia. This oil’s health benefits take on a greater importance during wintertime. Let’s talk about a few of them:

Breathe easy

Eucalyptus oil has antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral and decongestant properties, which makes it ideal if you or a family member have respiratory challenges. How? When you add a few drops of oil to an infuser or a few drops into your hands, rub them together and inhale, the resulting scent helps to calm your throat and dilate your blood vessels, which enables more oxygen into your lungs. If you suffer from sinus problems, asthma or allergies, the anti-inflammatory properties of eucalyptus oil can help to improve airflow and may reduce your symptoms.

Soothe your scalp

Eucalyptus oil promotes a cooling and refreshing effect, which is great news for your hair: it stimulates your hair follicles, helps to relieve your dry scalp and reduce the dreaded dandruff.

You deserve a hand

Eucalyptus oil is surprisingly effective for removing grease from your hands. Simply add a few drops of oil with a little sea salt and rub together to remove any traces of grime.

Welcome home

Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to your mop water or bathroom cleaner to boost the power of your cleaning routine. In the laundry room, apply a few drops directly to greasy stains or spots, let them sit for a bit and wash as normal. In the mudroom, add a few drops to stinky shoes and dog beds, or combine 5-15 drops of eucalyptus oil and water in a spray bottle and mist the bad smells away.

First aid favorite

Thanks to its antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, eucalyptus essential oil is an effective ingredient in DIY salves and ointments.

Our preference:

Eucalyptus Radiata Essential Oil by Plant Therapy

We like this oil for many reasons: it’s a 100% pure, undiluted essential oil and is free of additives, chemicals and pesticides. Plant Therapy Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil is often considered milder because it is slightly “smoother” than Eucalyptus Globulus, and it has a softer scent. Every batch of Plant Therapy oils is tested by a third-party laboratory using GC/MS testing and an onsite expert to guarantee continuous quality. All testing matches up and nothing is missed.
