Water is essential and can taste so clean and refreshing on its own. But one of the easiest ways to give it a twist is by infusing it with fruits, herbs, even spices! It’s an easy way to up the health factor of your water and so much better for you than the flavored water at the store. Plus, your daily water intake just got a whole lot more delicious...and beautiful.

When we discovered the fresh, gorgeous food that Sue Moran from The View from Great Island was creating, we knew she would take the standard cucumber lemon water to the next level. Sue seems to cook with her eyes, and has a great instinct for what colors and flavors pair well together. “I like to push the envelope just a little bit,” she says. “One of my favorite discoveries is Strawberry Jalapeno Water.” Here's how to make it.

Strawberry Jalapeno Water - a cool heat

Instructions

Slice up a few ripe strawberries. You can leave the stem end intact, and slice up a jalapeno pepper. Leave out the seeds if you’re timid. Add it to your water and let it infuse for a couple of hours either in the fridge or at room temperature. Serve it over ice for a fascinating sensation of cooling heat.

Rose Cardamom Water - a classic Middle Eastern duo

Instructions

Use the petals from un-sprayed roses (they can be right from your garden) and whole cardamom pods. Roll over the pods with a rolling pin to crack them open and release the seeds. Allow at least a couple of hours in the fridge for the flavors to develop. The longer it sits, the more flavorful it will be, but be aware that the ‘pretty factor’ will diminish over time.
