what it is

Bee’s Wrap is a reusable organic cloth that’s infused with beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil to be a safe and flexible replacement for plastic wrap.  Bee’s Wrap creates an airtight, moisture resistant seal and is naturally antimicrobial to actively fight rot, mold and decay. Unlike plastic wrap, it won’t leach toxins into your food or get thrown away after just one use. With a little practice, this beautifully simple solution may quickly become your preferred way to protect food. Read more

why it matters

Plastic wrap may be convenient but it’s not healthy or sustainable. Even “food safe” plastic can leach hormone disrupting chemicals into food before getting tossed. Throw-away plastics trash our environment, too. Each year, 1.6 million metric tons of plastic wrap go into the ocean where it chokes sea turtles and other marine life that mistake it for a meal.

insider tip

Brand new Bee’s Wrap starts out a bit stiff, so be patient! Take the time to allow your hand’s warmth to soften the cloth and smooth it together. Try using a rubber band or string to help keep it closed in the cold refrigerator. The more you use it, the better it gets. The wax will become softer and stick together more easily.

use & care

Use your hands to warm the Bee’s Wrap, then fold & shape around food. Press it gently to create a seal. New Bee’s Wrap can be a bit stiff, and you may find that it’s helpful to use a rubber band or string to keep it sealed in the refrigerator. The sheets will soften and become more pliable with continued use.

Wash gently with cold water, a brush, and mild soap. It’s important to avoid washing Bee’s Wrap with hot water, as this can melt away the wax, resin, and oil.
Air dry flat, then fold it flat for easy storage.

Not recommended for hot foods or raw meat.  If exposed to heat, wax will start to ball up or crumble off of sheet.  To remedy, place wrap flat on a piece of foil in your oven, on the lowest setting, for 1-2 minutes.  Let cool completely.  Repeat process until wax is incorporated back into the fabric.

insider tip

“Bee’s Wrap really works! After traveling for two months, I came home to find a fridge drawer full of moldy cheese—except for the Jarlsberg in Bee’s Wrap. It was as fresh as the day I left.”

Meet The Maker

Sarah Kaeck-
Sustainable social entrepreneurship

“Because good food deserves good care.”

Bee’s Wrap was founded in 2012 in Vermont by Sarah Kaeck, a mother and home cook with a deep seated love of textiles, art and sustainability. Seeking an alternative to disposable plastics in her own kitchen, she discovered a new way to revive the lost tradition of beeswax cloth. She infused organic cotton with beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin. The resulting reusable wraps proved to be versatile, beautiful and sustainable.

In the beginning, Kaeck produced Bee’s Wrap in her own home and the wax was hand painted onto each cloth. Since then, the business has grown into a global presence with 35 employees. Kaeck frequently speaks on sustainability, women in business and social entrepreneurship.
