Headquartered in Chico, CA, Klean Kanteen is a family-owned company and certified B Corporation on a mission to keep single-use waste from trashing the world. They created their first stainless steel, BPA-free, reusable water bottle in 2004 because they wanted a non-toxic solution to single-use plastic water bottles.

Klean Kanteen is deeply involved with their Chico, CA community by providing free filtered water stations at local events and sponsoring & participating in community clean ups. Klean Kanteen staff is given 24 hours of volunteer time annually to support diverse community nonprofits.

FAQ

+ Does the insulation contain plastic or foam?

No, the Klean Kanteen Travel Tumbler is made of stainless steel with no plastic or foam insulation. To create the tumbler’s vacuum insulation, an inner and outer bottle are sealed together and welded shut, then all of the air in the gap is removed with a high-power vacuum pump. Vacuum insulation is more effective than foam or other common insulating materials because there’s no material in the gap to conduct heat. That’s why your vacuum insulated tumbler can keep your beverages hot or cold for hours and hours.

+ Does my Travel Tumbler have a liner?

No. All Klean Kanteen products are made from high quality, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel. Stainless steel is naturally free of BPA and other harmful substances. Stainless steel is inherently safe for food and beverage contact; plastic or epoxy linings are not necessary. This is one of the main differences between stainless steel Klean Kanteen Travel Tumblers and aluminum bottles. All aluminum bottles must have a liner to maintain the integrity of the contents inside the bottle; otherwise, the aluminum leaches into the contents, which is unsafe.

+ Can I put my Travel Tumbler in the freezer?

No. The force of liquids expanding as they freeze can cause your Travel Tumbler to become deformed and/or can break the weld that holds secures the double walled insulation, so we strongly advise against it.

+ Can I put apple juice, orange juice or other acidic drinks into a Klean Kanteen Travel Tumbler?

Yes. Acidic beverages will not corrode or damage the high-quality stainless steel.

+ My Travel Tumbler has coffee and tea stains, how do I remove them?

We recommend Bottle Bright tablets, just pop them in with water and watch the fizzing magic bring the inside of your mug back to shiny new! Or use a vinegar and baking soda dilution for the same effect.
