What Makes It Mighty?

  • reusable alternative to disposable swabs
  • convenient carrying case keeps swab secure and easy to travel with
  • it only takes 36 uses to become a better option than single use swabs in terms of carbon footprint
Description

LastSwab is a reusable and sustainable alternative to cotton swabs. It helps combat the billions of single-use cotton swabs that are produced every day. Made from rubber-like TPE and plastic reinforced with glass fiber, and stored in a certified recycled ocean-bound plastic carry case, one LastSwab is meant to replace 1,000 single-use cotton swabs.

The original style swab is for general uses. The soft-feel tip is gentle on the skin and very easy to clean. You can generally use a LastSwab as you would use a single use swab, but keep in mind that LastSwab is not heat resistant and you can not use it with solvents such as acetone or non-acetone nail polish remover.

Use and care:

LastSwabs are easily cleaned with water and a little soap. You can also use a disinfectant like rubbing alcohol to sanitize it.

Solution to itchy, painful ears

My daughter has suffered from pain in both of her ears (not infections), itchiness to the point of rawness, and overproduction of wax. She also gets vestibular migraines. Since using this product, her ears are rarely itchy, but when they are, she can satisfy the itch with a safe product. Related or not, the pain in her ears and her vestibular migraines have also greatly decreased!

I would deduct a point for durability except the above far outweighs the following point: I am back on this website to purchase a replacement because the stem is about to break. My daughter has been using the reusable swab since about September. To account for itchy ears, mostly at the beginning of her usage, let's say that's 3 uses/day for 6 months (548). So it's lasted a little over half of the "up to 1,000 swabs" advertising.

I came to the site to buy a replacement and consider some for the rest of my family. I compared the cost of Q-Tips at Costco—$11.49 for 1,750. 2 Q-tips/day = 4.8 years' worth of Q-Tips—a far better deal than buying the Last Swab(s), so you'd want to buy the Last Swab to help the environment and/or help with troubled ears.

All that being said, I'm going to buy 4 for my family based on my daughter's recommendation.

Like the texture

I wasn't sure I would, but I really liked this. The texture and size are nice. I will for sure use for travel.

Not As I Expected

While these are great in theory, I think they'd be much better if the tips were a bit softer. I was expecting something with the feel of food grade silicone, where the touch is much more comfortable and softer on the ears. This felt much like a hard plastic. They could be more damaging if not used correctly. Maybe I just got the wrong type? Bummed, because I was pretty excited about this product.
