About Aloha Bay

In 2013, Aloha Bay became the first candle company to become Rainforest Alliance certified. Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international non-profit conservation organization that certifies farms and plantations that meet their rigorous standards for the protection of natural resources and the rights and welfare of workers and local communities. RA works with people whose livelihoods depend on the land by helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers. Companies, cooperatives, landowners and farmers that participate in RA's programs are reporting an increase in sustainable production. RA certification protects forests better than governments or the Round Table of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). In Guatemala's Maya Biosphere Reserve, the rate of deforestation in government protected areas is twenty times the rate of deforestation compared to RA certified forest communities. In Malaysia and Indonesia, the RSPO has not stopped forest clear cutting or fires. We do not import any wax from Indonesia where orangutan's habitats are threatened.More oil per acre: 10 times more than soy pesticide intensive GMO soyLess machinery and more rural employmentAncient crop: GMO and pesticide freePerennial organically farmed trees with no yearly tilling of the soil or decrease in biodiversity
