About Winnie Abramson

Winnie Abramson has a degree in naturopathic medicine and she is the recipe developer, writer, and photographer at Healthy Green Kitchen (healthygreenkitchen.com). She launched her blog in May of 2009 and it’s where she fuses her interests in home cooking, holistic nutrition, and green living. She enjoys sharing her favorite healthy, seasonal recipes on her blog, as well as her adventures in organic gardening, backyard chickens, and beekeeping.\Winnie's parents owned the famed restaurant The Quilted Giraffe in New York City when she was growing up, and she's been cooking for as long as she can remember. After college, she spent five years studying naturopathic medicine at Seattle’s Bastyr University: she graduated with a doctorate in 1998. After practicing for several years, she changed gears to focus on writing about nutrition and the connection between good food and good health. Winnie lives in upstate NY with her husband, two kids, and many pets, including a flock of laying hens. Winnie loves sharing her experiences in and out of the kitchen and hopes to inspire others to cook more, eat better, and live greener.
