A Message to our Community
Dear MightyNest community,
I have been struggling to find the right words for this moment but I want to try. The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and countless others before them are horrifying and we at MightyNest stand in solidarity with all of those raising their voices for change.
As a team, we have been prioritizing taking the time to look inward, process what’s been happening in the world around us, be present for each other, and do our best to give our team the support they need. It is in these conversations that we find hope and meaning, even when they are filled with despair.
Hearing friends and coworkers share stories of their personal experience with racism and fears that they, or those they love, may die because of the color of their skin leaves me overwhelmed with sadness and anger. Today, I’m adding my voice to the chorus calling for change, and as a team, we are channeling our shared conviction into a sustained effort to fight systemic racism.
Here is what we are doing to start:
- We will stay committed to building an anti-racist organization, through and through. We have always had zero-tolerance for discrimination of any kind, but that is no longer enough.
- We are actively seeking out local organizations that support Black communities, and commit to offering both our time and money.
- We are committed to selling more products made by Black-owned companies by the end of 2020.
We will share our progress against these goals as we go. We know our actions may be a small step in addressing the issues in front of us, but we are committed to learning, growing, and taking action. Black Lives Matter, and we will do the hard work necessary to be a part of the solution.
