Hip Girls (APRIL)

“I love being a mad-scientist bathroom cleaner, it’s so much better than using bleach products which actually just tint the mold, but don’t get rid of it, and also leave a trail of organochlorines in their wake” - Kate  of The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking

As the fresh fragrances of spring fill the air, and we begin to at least think about spring cleaning, consider approaching it a little differently this year. Join blogger Kate, of The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking, and switch out some of your chemical laden conventional cleaners for natural green cleaners instead.

Though many people have come to associate the scent of “clean” with chlorine or the artificial fragrances of certain common household cleaners, the truth is that many of these cleaners also contribute to indoor air pollution, are poisonous if ingested, and can be harmful if inhaled or touched. And don’t even get us started on the environmental impact of rinsing all those chemicals down the drain. That’s enough of that. Green cleaning supplies are just as effective, and made of simple, natural ingredients that won’t harm you or your family.

Read how Hip Girl Kate gets down and dirty with the grunge in her home by making her own natural cleaners using non-toxic, readily available ingredients. If playing mad scientist and concocting your own cleaners isn’t your thing, there are many chemical free ready-made green cleaners to choose from as well.

Pledge to swap out at least one of your old chemical cleaning products for a greener cleaner and support your school in our current challenge!
