Robot toys are usually made of plastic and require batteries - but not this one! Inspired by the Japanese Shinto Kumi-ki puzzles, and designed by David Weeks, the Cubebot is a non-traditional take on the toy robot by joining ancient Japanese traditions with contemporary toy culture. Cubebots's powerful hardwood frame can hold many poses, and his elastic-band muscles and durable wood limbs make him impervious to breakage. When it’s time for him to rest, he folds into a perfect cube. An enduring classic that will withstand generations of play.

Cubebots are available in 2 sizes: small and medium

  • Dimensions: (SMALL) 6.75 inches tall with 9.25 inch arm span (at play); 2.5 x 2.5 inch cube (at rest)
  • Dimensions: (MEDIUM) 9.5 inches tall with 13.5 inch arm span (at play); 3.5 x 3.5 inch cube (at rest)
  • Made with Sustainably Harvested Cherry Wood
  • Recommended for ages 6+

Cubebot is winner of our 2011 Christmas gift pile! My 4yo favorite toy. Made of the highest quality workmanship and materials. I recommend this toy to anyone girl or boy. Cubebot lends itself to endless scenarios in imaginative play and a bit of physics learning as the art of balance is investigated, and more. I love that even a 4yo can get cube bot to stand on its own.

I've had a blast playing with Cubebot. My sister got my son a Cubebot for his 12th birthday, I found myself fidgeting with his so often I decided to get my own to keep on my desk at work. Great conversation starter and fun animations at www.cubebot.com.

My six year old son LOVES the cubebot! He loves to show off how he can make different shapes out of it, get it back into the cube, etc. it is one of his favorite toys, period.

Turned oout to be a great gift. Lots of fun to "play" with and for 2 of them to "play" together. A challenge to get back into a cube after getting the Man out. Directions would be helpful if included.

Bought the small cubebots as gifts for my children (aged 3, 7, 9). The 9 year old figured out how to put it back into a box shape in the first day. The 7 year old creates the most hilarious poses and the 3 year old just likes to carry it around in the box :) All of them are still playing with them regularly. Very well made, very fun to play with-best for ages 7 and up. Did I mention my husband and I keep "borrowing" them for our office (great thing to keep your hands busy during long teleconferences)
