eco friendly easter eggs

It’s Easter egg dying time! Coloring and decorating eggs is a fun, creative activity kids of all ages enjoy. This year, get gorgeously colored eggs without the store-bought toxins or the extra time of creating your own homemade dye.

All-in-One Kit

Extracts of organic fruit, plant and vegetables produce vibrant, beautiful and safe dyes in this natural egg coloring kit by Eco-Kids. When the dye you're dipping your fingers into are derived from things like annatto seed, gardenia flower, curcumin, purple sweet potato and red cabbage, you can rest easy and just focus on how you're going to decorate each egg. And there's no dizzying vinegar smell either.

Kit includes three natural dyes (purple, blue and orange), a color chart that explains how to create 6 different colors from those dyes, instructions for coloring eggs, hand-crafted wire egg dipper, and an eco-crayon for creating a wax resist. Draw simple lines or dots with the crayon, and the wax prevents the dye from adhering in those spots. While the eggs are taking a natural dye bath, watch your patterns emerge!

A super fun and easy art project for kids, simply mix colors with warm water in separate small glass bowls. Let your eggs bathe in their dye for either a short amount of time or slightly longer for darker colors.

How do you do Easter Eggs?

We'd love to see the eggs you're decorating in your kitchens. Upload a photo of your decorated eggs here, on Instagram, or Facebook with the hashtag #MightyEgg. We'll re-gram/re-post our favorites!

MightyTip: There's a reason why eggs are known as the most perfect food—they're one of the most nutrient-dense foods available! Dye eggs over the weekend, store them in a glass container and have beautiful eggs for a protein-packed breakfast, a lunchbox surprise, or as a healthy after-school snack. Unlike the conventional egg dyes, you don't need to worry about eating eggs that have picked up a little of the dye.
