Rid your mudroom of mud

Ahhhhh, spring. Birds, blooms, warmer temps, and... mud. Just when you got all the winter gear packed away and thought you were clear of winter’s muck and clutter, here come the wet umbrellas, raincoats and more boots! Don’t let the rain get you down, consider these simple ideas to keep things straight:

  • Get organized: The best way to keep things off the floor is to give it a place to live. A small bin for keys, and little odds and ends, hooks for jackets and sweaters, and a tray for shoes, boots and wet umbrellas. It can also help to leave a minivac or  broom and dustpan by the front door for easy clean-up.

  • Stock up on non-toxic cleaners. According to the EPA, the greatest exposure to toxic chemicals is in our own homes. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to make the switch to non-toxic cleaners, which are just as effective but safer for the whole family.

  • Invest in an air purifier. Allergy season is here, don’t let those allergens get the best of your family. Air purifiers can reduce coughing, wheezing, dry mouth, runny nose and even help with snoring. Read more about air purifiers here.
