Was that a sneeze? Prepare yourself with essential oils

Fall and winter have so many “pluses”, but the big “minus” is cold and flu season. Truth be told, we’re running everywhere: in and out of the house, the store, school functions. It’s no wonder our immune systems are challenged to keep up with our schedules and long “to-do” lists.

That first hint of a scratchy throat or an ache that wasn’t there yesterday is our collective cue to review and restock our supply of essential oils. Around the office and in our homes, we’ve found Plant Therapy essential oils can help to ease various symptoms that run us down.* These essential oils are not only 100% pure undiluted oils, they’re lab tested to ensure they are free from any additives, chemicals or pesticides.

This time of year, we reach for two essential oils:

Germ Fighter Essential Oil

Contains USDA certified organic essential oils of Lemon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Cinnamon Cassia and Rosemary.

Remember, essential oils aren’t supposed to be put directly on your skin. That’s where carrier oils come in. Oils such as coconut and grapeseed  “carry” the essential oils and help them to blend or diffuse quickly and evenly. Check out our tips for how to best use essential oils.

How We Use Them:

1. Mix 1-2 drops of your preferred essential oil with a carrier oil and apply to bottoms of your feet. We like Plant Therapy's Coconut Carrier Oil or Grapeseed Carrier Oil

2. Add about 20 drops of your favorite essential oil to 12 oz of  unscented liquid hand soap

3. Use 5-10 drops of essential oils with an electronic ultrasonic diffuser. Don't have a diffuser? You can add a few drops of your favorite oil into your palms, rub them together, bring them up to your face and breathe deeply. If you're easing children's colds and flu, please use a carrier oil with a few drops of essential oil and apply to their hands or feet.

If you have been curious about essential oils, fall and winter are the ideal time to try them. We’d love to hear how you and your family feel in the next few months compared to last year. More joy, less germs. It’s possible.
