08.09.10 Safe Reusable Lunch Bags: A User's Guide

Flora Blue LunchBug

Back to School season means, for most of us, back to packing lunches! Here's a quick guide to help you decide what the best lunch bag is for your needs.  All of the lunch gear sold on MightyNest is BPA Free, PVC Free, Phthalate Free, Lead Free and Melamine Free. And this week you can save 20% on all lunch bags.  (details below)

Kids Konserve Insulated Lunch Sack (Moss or Beach): Great for keeping things cold, these bags are made from recycled plastic bottles and include an interior pouch for an icepack.  We also have an ice pack with sweat-free cover that works well with this product.  The simple design and single color of these bags makes them suitable for kids through adults.  Velcro closure and shoulder strap. (I use the Beach Insulated Lunch Sack)

Kids Konserve Waste Free Lunch Kit (Butterfly or Caterpillar):  The beauty of this kit is that it has everything you need for a waste-free lunch (except the food!) It includes a recycled cotton sack, cloth napkin, 304 food-grade stainless steel beverage bottle, reusable sandwich wrap and two 304 food-grade stainless steel food containers.

Mimi the Sardine Lunch Sack: These lunch bags are made in the U.S. from organically grown cotton with a water-based acrylic finish. Choose from 4 super cute fabrics. They have a velcro closure top that tucks tight and a handle strong enough to withstand a heavy lunch and a game of catch. They are easy to clean: just wipe, or machine-wash and tumble dry on low. Great for boys or girls.

Mimi the Sardine LunchBug: These super cute bags are made in the U.S. from organically grown cotton with a water-based acrylic finish. They are easy to clean: just wipe, or machine-wash and tumble dry on low. They have a sturdy zipper and soft handles. They are lined with an adorable complement dot or stripe acrylic-coated fabric.  They are sort of a purse style bag, more suitable for girls.  5 patterns to choose from.

GreenSmart Neogreene Insulated Lunch Bags: Neogreene is considered Toxic-Free because there are no phthalates, PVC, BPA, VOCs, chlorine, nor heavy metals that are traditionally comprised in neoprene. Neogreene packages are only constructed using water-based adhesives, eliminating  the dependence on solvent based adhesives, which generally contain toluene and dimethyl formaldehyde. Because Neogreene is a closed-cell structure it does not absorb water. This benefit means that when the laminated fabrics get wet, it is the fabric that dries, not the entire package, as a sponge with fabric would, eliminating the potential for mold or mildew to form in a wet foam layer.  There are 3 styles to choose from here: Sifaka (purse style), Margay (lunch box style), and Javan (2 handled clutch).  These are great for both kids and adults.

3 Tier Tiffin and Carrier Bag: This is a great option for teens or adults.  A stainless steel tiffin divided into 3 separate compartments that stack on top of each other, and a 4th small container that fits inside 1 of the compartments.  Comes with a cotton carrier bag.  A nice accompanying product for this is the Bamboo Utensil set, which can fit right in the carrier bag.
