cook outside this summer

We’ve always wanted to take our family pizza night outside to the grill, but our one attempt turned into an awful, awful mess. As soon as we put the dough on the grate, half of the crust fell through! - Tiffany, Don’t Waste the Crumbs

As the weather warms up, thoughts turn to grilling and enjoying dinner outside. Instead of limiting themselves to typical grill fare, read how one family plans to keep their weekly homemade pizza tradition going all summer long by perfecting pizza on the grill! Blogger Tiffany, of Don't Waste the Crumbs describes pizza on Fridays as more than a meal, it’s an event.

Unfortunately, their first attempt at grilling pizza was an epic fail. As soon as they put the dough on the grate, half of the crust fell through.  Tiffany tried to troubleshoot the dough and salvage what she could, but the remaining dough burned to a crisp. Still, they kept going, really giving this grilled pizza thing a try and topped what dough was left.  Immediately, the toppings fell off into the flame and all that was left were messy, saucy, burned pieces of dough. “Disaster” is a fairly appropriate term to describe that adventure.

Tiffany’s solution: a ceramic pizza stone. Ceramic stones don’t contain tiny holes of air, thus eliminating the need to warm up or cool down.  They’re also non-toxic and non-porous, meaning they won’t leach any harmful toxins into your food or cause your grill grate to rust if you accidentally leave it out!
