Freelance UX Designer
MightyNest is looking for a part-time freelance UX Designer to collaborate with our product and engineering team on site experience evolution for MightyNest.com. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in UX design, ideally with a balance of interaction and visual design skillsets.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Perform product discovery activities including user tests, card sorts, surveys, interviews and other user research techniques.
- Prototype and wireframe potential solutions to customer needs based on identified problem areas.
- Contribute to and maintain internal design system and related assets to drive consistency, accessibility and performance.
- Design new user interfaces and design patterns as needed to meet customer needs in partnership with engineering team.
- Partner and coordinate with both internal and external marketing and agency designers as well as with marketing leadership and team members.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Familiarity with User Research best practices and other means of active Discovery work and user empathy work.
- Comfort working in low fidelity collaboration tools such as journey maps, wireframes and sketches.
- Strong interaction design skills on mobile web and/or native apps.
- Strong visual design skills and an impeccable eye for detail and adherence to brand standards.
- Strong technical aptitude, including understanding of accessibility standards and site performance standards.
- In-house ecommerce or other consumer-facing UX experience.
- Software proficiency: Solid skill set in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Figma.
- Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and ideas.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn new techniques and software as needed.
- Time Management: Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects

- You will partner closely with product and engineering to identify customer problems and to deliver creative solutions.
- You will collaborate with various stakeholders from multiple departments to understand stakeholder requirements and deliver UX solutions that meet their needs.
- You will work with the marketing team to ensure the site experience upholds brand guidelines and standards.
We are based in Skokie, IL, in the Chicago area. Candidates may be remote or Chicago-based.
