The Avocado Sock® originated more than 40 years ago at a catering company in Sun Valley, Idaho where Guacamole was popular but ripe avocados were a rare commodity. The owner ripened avocados in wool ski socks lined up in a drawer and documented this handy tip in a cookbook. Fast forward to a recent rediscovery the cookbook and creation of the custom, all wool, environmentally-friendly, Canadian-made Avocado Sock to enable everyone to enjoy a perfectly ripe avocado exactly when they need it. This organic, back-to-basics product encourages the consumption of healthy avocados in an over-processed and plastic-filled world. It’s giving back to local communities by employing local manufacturers, using sustainably-sourced products.
