what it is

100% handmade New Zealand Wool Dryer Balls naturally soften clothes, shorten drying time and reduce static.  Just toss the set in the dryer instead of a dryer sheet and leave them there to tumble for 1000+ loads. They'll aerate, fluff, & soften clothes without exposing your family to synthetic chemicals.  Every time you use Dryer Balls instead of conventional dryer sheets, you free your indoor air of toxins,  avoid skin irritations, & help reduce landfill waste. It’s a healthy change that really makes a difference.

why it matters

Conventional dryer sheets are full of synthetic fragrances & unlisted chemicals that can cause allergies, sensitivities, and skin & lung damage. They may prevent static, but at the expense of heavy toxic conditioners that coat clothes and transfer to your family’s skin. They also pollute your indoor environment by causing your dryer to vent air that would fail a car emissions test. No one wants to breathe air like that, especially at home. Most dryer sheets can’t be recycled and go to the landfill after just one use.

ideas for green & clean laundry

When you ditch dryer sheets and synthetic fabric softener for reusable, natural wool balls, you’re starting a more sustainable laundry cycle. Give these simple tips a spin for even cleaner greener laundry.

add white vinegar

Vinegar cleans, softens and brightens clothes naturally and removes residues left by previous conventional products.

    • Option 1: use 2 cups in place of detergent
    • Option 2: add ½ cup to the final cycle

baking soda refresh

Baking soda fights musty odors & other unwanted smells.

    • Add ½ cup to the final rinse cycle

use cold water

Cold water rinses clothes just as well as warm or hot & is much more energy efficient.  Cold water washing also maintains colors & fabrics longer.

fold hot

Fold, hang, or lay clothes flat when they are still warm from the dryer to avoid wrinkles & reduce ironing or steaming time.

clean dryer filter

Clean the dryer filter after every load; this allows air to circulate & helps dryer run at peak efficiency.

use & care

Toss in all three balls with every dryer load.

Clothes dry faster, so reduce drying time by about 25%  or lower heat setting to keep static low.

Leave balls in dryer between loads so they’re always ready to go.

Wash with warm water every six months and dry on high heat to maintain the wool.

insider tip

"Add a few drops of essential oil to your dryer balls to give your clothes a natural fresh scent. Lavender and Palo Santo are my everyday favorites.  Whenever we have colds in the house, I use Germ Fighter or Oregano oil to sanitize sheets & bedding.  Be sure to let the oil soak into the wool for 10 minutes before popping in the dryer."

Meet The Maker

Christine Krogue,
softening fabric with safe dryer balls + fair trade.

As a mother of 5, Christine and her family go through their fair share of laundry. When she found a non-toxic way to simplify and green her laundry routine, she wanted to share it with others. She used wool to develop a natural fabric softener that is safe, chemical-free, affordable and reusable, and she found a way to create it on a larger scale with fair labor and a human touch.

She continues to be very involved in the dryer ball manufacturing process, and sources the wool for her all-natural dryer balls from New Zealand. The balls are felted in Nepal by women and minorities who are paid far-above market wages, and Christine frequently travels there to spend time with the craftspeople (and their families). Finally the balls are inspected and packaged in the US by moms who work from home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
